We arrived at Scenic Beach State Park on Friday afternoon. The campground is heavily treed, so we looked for an available site with good sun.
We walked down onto the beach to discover the reason that this park is called Scenic Beach. The sky was absolutely clear, and the snowcapped Olympic range overlooked the water so close you felt like you could reach right across Hood Canal and touch them! Unfortunately, we didn't have our camera with us that time, and we didn't get another opportunity like it to see the peaks again all weekend.
One of the features of the park is Emel House, built in 1911. That house
is used today for special occasions. On Saturday, a wedding party used the
facility and grounds.
